Writing Across the Curriculum Workshop for Classroom Teachers 1:00-4:00

Mary McAndrews, CALT presents this workshop to support teachers in their efforts to prepare well-constructed, organized, and effective writing assignments. Increasing academic expectations for students in all grades require teachers to incorporate more extensive writing assignments into their daily curriculum. This greater demand for writing beginning as early as kindergarten presents a challenge to both the teacher and the student. The teacher is expected to know how to create effective assignments that meet the needs of diverse learners. The students who may have limited experience with writing or who may struggle with written expression have difficulty "showing what they know" on assessments. Workshop participants learn a multisensory process approach that best supports students to become better writers.
